Elf in the Classroom Linky Party!

I am joining the Elf in the Classroom Linky Party! Click the link above to link up. I did not blog about week 1 yet, so this blog entry will include Week 1 and Week 2. Having an elf has brought so much joy and excitement to my students. It has been worth every minute! I think I am having just as much fun as my students are.

Day 1:
Santa sent our elf and left him sitting by the Christmas tree. We read the book and watched the movie on this day. My students were very excited to have the elf. However, they were also a little confused at how this elf could be real and make it to the North Pole every night.

Day 2:
We decided to name him Gingerbread! He was hanging out in our alphabet tree on this day.
Day 3:
Gingerbread liked his name so much, he decided to write it all over the classroom. He also got stuck hanging upside down from the front board.

Day 4:
Gingerbread was playing some basketball and got stuck in the hoop. My students were afraid he was either going to fall or that he would not be able to get himself unstuck, he made it out just fine however. ;)

Day 5:
Gingerbread felt left out, so he added his name to our word wall. This day was very dramatic. Gingerbread was hanging just fine in the morning and when I went out for Door Duty he must have fallen off of the chart. When we came in, in the morning my students were very afraid that he was hurt or that he would lose his magic, but everything worked out just fine. Also, My students could not get past his sloppy writing, silly elf.

Day 6:
Gingerbread left my students a note, with a good report back to Santa and also a chain to help us count down the days until Christmas break.

Day 7:
Gingerbread decided to read some of his favorite books. My students loved that when they came in he was reading his own book.
Day 8:
Gingerbread left us some jingle bells for our door, so that he can hear us coming. He also decided to hide on top of one of our speakers.

Day 9:
Gingerbread decided to have a Candy Land party with our Candy Land sight word game. He even invited some of our reading buddies to join him.

Day 10:
Gingerbread decided we needed some more Christmas cheer. He put up a strand of lights around our dry erase board. This just made my students day and of course I was happy because it was Friday!

One more week to go! I am glad it is almost Christmas break, but I will be sad to see Gingerbread head back to the North Pole. This has been a blast having an elf. Seeing the joy and excitement in my students has made it beyond worth it! Until next week, happy "elfing" my blogging friends!

All I Want for Christmas

Linking up with 2nd Grade Shenanigans for All I Want for Christmas , holiday linky. Click the link above to link up too!

I am not even sure what I want for Christmas (I know it is right around the corner). I love giving gifs more then I do receiving. I would love just about anything I have pinned on Pinterest, but here are some items I would love to have...

1. i-Pad Mini

2. Silhouette Cameo (I am a huge scrapbooker and of course this would be awesome for my classroom!)

3. A new purse (I love this Coach purse, not that I can afford it.. but I can dream, right?!)
4.  Bins for school (I really want to redo my classroom library and get a little more orgnanized, so I would love these!)

5. Makeup (I will always take some Mac Makeup!)

6. And of course some gift cards to my favorite stores, would always be appreciated.
7. I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid Mixer and of course in pink!

8. While I am at it.. I would love to learn how to sew! Any sewing machine would be great to start with.

I know this list is a little out of control, but a girl can dream, right?!

Christmas Questionnaire

Trying to get back into starting blogging again. What better way to start then with a little Christmas questionnaire from Fabulous in First!
Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
I honestly like both. My grandmother always had eggnog at Christmas time, so I grew up with it. However, when it is cold outside (which is almost always now) there is nothing better then a warm cup of hot chocolate with some whip cream on top!
Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Growing up Santa always wrapped every present unless it was something very large. The suspense of ripping the presents open on Christmas morning was always worth all the wrapping.
Colored lights or white?
I do like both types of lights and it really just depends on what they are on. I like Christmas trees with white lights better, they look more elegant. However, I do like colored lights outside on houses more then just plain white lights.
When do you decorate?
I always decorate the day/ weekend after Thanksgiving. It has been harder and harder each year to wait to decorate, though! Speaking of decorations, I have had a fake Santa that sings and dances for a few years now, here is a picture of him along with my normal Christmas tree in the background.
Real or fake tree?
I have always had a fake tree. They are much easier to put up and down, they do not make a mess, and they are somewhat less of a fire hazard. I recently had a roommate move in, so I put a lot of my stuff in storage. My Christmas stuff is buried but I could not live without having a Christmas tree, so I purchased a little one.

Favorite Christmas memories or traditions?
Everything about Christmas is a favorite memory or tradition for me! I love everything from giving gifts to others, to driving around looking at Christmas lights, to singing Christmas carols and so much more! One of my favorite things still is going to church around Christmas time and seeing how beautifully decorated my sanctuary is, I just love it!

Do you remember your favorite gift as a child?
I feel like I had many favorite gifts as a child. I always received lots of books from Santa. I always would get so excited to get a whole new series to read. I remember getting the whole Little House Prairie Series Box Set.
Do you prefer giving or receiving?
Without a doubt I would rather give a present any day over receiving one. The anticipation of waiting for someone to open a present and hopefully bring a smile to their face, is almost too much for me to handle at times.
What is your favorite Christmas song?
I have a million favorite Christmas songs. However my favorites are Do You Hear What You I Hear? and Mary Did You Know? I sing in the church choir and these are definitely favorites of mine!

Candy Canes. Yuck or yum?
I really don't care for them. They are not bad, but I can live without them. Bring on the chocolate!
Favorite Christmas movie?
The Santa Clause
Do you shop online or at stores?
Both! I just love shopping, end of story!

Photo cards, letter, or store bought cards?
I send store bought cards, as of now. However I love the photo cards. Maybe one day if I have kids I will send photo cards instead.
Now it is your turn! Link up your post with Fabulous in First (see link below).
